Alison Murray, Andrea Mossman take on key growth roles for NIHD

Northern Inyo Healthcare District (NIHD) announces the promotion of two seasoned leaders into key roles. Alison Murray, the current Chief Human Resources Officer, is now also the Chief Business Development Officer (CBDO), where she will lead strategic growth efforts for the District. Meanwhile, Andrea Mossman now serves as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), bringing her financial expertise to steer NIHD through the ever-evolving challenges in healthcare. Both appointments are effective immediately.

Mossman: Nurse’s daughter making a difference
Mossman joined NIHD in 2022 as Controller, later serving as Interim Associate Financial Officer. She worked closely with now-CEO Stephen DelRossi during a period of significant financial strain for the District. “Andrea was instrumental in stabilizing our financial position,” DelRossi said. “Her commitment and talent helped bring us from a $17 million deficit to profitability within two years.”

Mossman credits her passion for healthcare to her mother, a nurse who always put patients first, and later battled breast cancer while continuing to serve those patients. “Watching her work with such dedication, giving her heart and soul, both as a nurse and as a patient, taught me the value of quality healthcare, especially in smaller communities,” Mossman said. After launching her career in healthcare finance, Mossman earned her Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification, which she calls one of her proudest achievements.

Mossman’s priorities as CFO include enhancing operational efficiency, providing clear financial reports, and securing grant opportunities to sustain NIHD’s growth. She also plans to advocate for the District’s needs at both state and federal levels. “We must be good stewards of our resources to ensure we continue to invest in our future while maintaining quality care,” she said.

While her primary residence is in Denver, Mossman frequently visits Bishop with her family, including her husband and three-year-old son. "The Bishop community has been so welcoming to us, and I’m excited to continue building relationships here,” she shares. “I understand the challenges of accessing healthcare in a rural community, and I am committed to ensuring that Bishop has access to the care it deserves."

Murray: It all comes back to serving people
Alison Murray’s promotion to Chief Business Development Officer is pivotal in NIHD’s long-term growth strategy. With a healthcare and human resources background, Murray is known for her leadership skills and unwavering focus on people. “Our success always comes back to people—our staff, providers, and most of all, our patients,” she said.

Murray’s career has prepared her well for this dual role. “My experience in healthcare and human resources has shown me how closely business growth and employee engagement are connected,” she says. In her previous work, she led projects that combined workforce development with strategic growth, creating a culture of innovation and better service. These experiences have given her the tools to promote growth and create a positive work environment for employees, essential for a strong healthcare organization.

In her expanded role, Murray will balance her responsibilities as an HR leader with driving business development. She plans to enhance NIHD’s services, build partnerships with community organizations, and stay ahead of trends in rural healthcare. “My top priorities are service expansion, community outreach, and identifying new growth opportunities,” she said. Murray also aims to strengthen relationships with local schools, businesses, and organizations to improve the overall health of the Eastern Sierra community.

Murray, a dedicated wife and mother of two adult children, finds serving the community deeply rewarding. “What excites me most about this role is the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of people here,” she says. While rural healthcare presents challenges, it also allows room for innovation. Murray says she is committed to developing accessible, high-quality healthcare solutions tailored to the community’s needs.

Mossman joins Murray, DelRossi, Chief Operations and Nursing Officer Allison Partridge, and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Adam Hawkins to complete the District's Executive Leadership team.

The appointments of Murray and Mossman signal a renewed commitment to excellence at NIHD. “Andrea and Alison’s combined experience and dedication will be key to fostering growth and ensuring the District remains a cornerstone of health services in the Eastern Sierra,” said CEO DelRossi. “Their leadership will enhance our operational capabilities and strengthen our community connections.”
