About Uttama

Dr. Sharma is a Board Certified physician in Family Medicine who completed her residency at the UCSF Santa Rosa Family Medicine Residency Program. She attended medical school at the University of Virginia and college at Duke University. She enjoys seeing the full-spectrum of family medicine, including newborns, children, adults, pregnant women, and every member of a family. Her medical interests include women's health, family planning, integrative medicine, travel health, international medicine, nutrition, lifestyle changes, and ayurveda. She likes to help her patients become active participants in their own health and well-being and is passionate about non-pharmaceutical approaches to improved health. She enjoys getting to know and connecting with her patients.


Dr. Sharma has experience working in New Zealand with a rural, farming population, in San Francisco with an urban and largely Latino population, in remote Juneau, Alaska, seeing every age from newborns, pregnant women, and the elderly; at a Veterans Clinic in Anchorage, Alaska, caring for patients with multiple chronic illnesses; and at an urgent care center, helping patients with acute needs. She has also volunteered her medical skills internationally, in Ghana and Guatemala, and at a clinic in Stockholm, Sweden for paperless immigrants. She speaks Spanish and spent eight years working with Latino patients.

She has lived in Honduras, New Zealand, and Sweden and travelled to more than 40 countries.


Outside of work, she enjoys climbing, hiking, running, yoga, traveling, writing, reading, knitting and spending time with her husband, daughter, and friends.
